He's able to poke fun at the most serious parts of recovery in such a manner that the audience can actually see themselves going through those situations, and how funny they would be if they looked at it from the angle he takes them to.
I couldn't imagine anyone not enjoying his performance and being able to see for themselves how much fun can be had by looking at themselves through Dave's twisted imagination. And because some are sicker than others, he does a really good job.
